Music for Teens
Private Tuition, Theory Classes, Jam Sessions, Band Workshops
Private Tuition
Students can take a weekly 30, 45 or 60 minute private class in any instrument or voice.
We facilitate all practical exams at Mezzo and examiners from RIAM and Trinity College London visit our purpose built premises to examine our students.
As many of our teenage students are not keen on learning Classical music, we also offer tuition in rock, pop, contemporary, jazz, blues and many other genres.
Trinity Rock and Pop exams are available to students who favour this genre.
Theory Classes
Research has shown that attending a theory class enhances results in graded instrument exams and improves a students overall understanding of music and the reasoning behind it.
Students can sit graded exams and achieve qualifications.
Jam Sessions
Students attending Jam Sessions can usually play at least 1 instrument they take lessons in, outside of the sessions, and are encouraged to improvise, be creative, and take part in song writing and arranging.
An important component of being a musician is being able to hear the music. Often students are only taught how to read and reproduce music. Improvising trains your ear to hear and identify if you’re producing the sounds you intended, or not. Playing off the cuff, helps a student to train their ears, to recognise patterns and scales and teaches you to think ahead.
Apart from fostering creativity, and allowing students to express themselves, these music classes for teens are also fun and motivating, taught by musicians/songwriters and run all through the academic year.
Jam Sessions take place on:
Mondays 6.00pm – 7.00pm (ages 12-14)
Thursdays 6.00pm – 7.00pm (ages 15-18)
