Clarinet Lessons: Depending on the student’s age, it is sometimes advisable to learn recorder prior to starting clarinet lessons, although this is not always essential.

Clarinet Students will learn sight-reading, music theory  & technique, all through a range of musical styles, where each student can develop their own distinctive tone, warmth & intonation.

The clarinet provides a fantastic opportunity for students to participate in orchestras & chamber music ensembles. As well as its large classical repertoire, clarinet is also well suited to many styles of jazz music.

Mezzo clarinet students have the option to sit graded examinations in clarinet, facilitated by both the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Exams take place during 3 sessions per year; Spring, Summer & Autumn. Exams are held in Mezzo Music Academy, with an independent examiner from the relevant exam board.

We are always happy to work with students who have no desire to complete exams and wish to play the clarinet for pure enjoyment.
